NEDA XII Regional
Director Hadja Sittie Mariam (Ma. Lourdes) D. Lim,
who is also the Project Director for the
KR2-Productivity Enhancement Program (KR2-PEP)
turned over yesterday (May 20, 2008) a check in the
amount of Three Million Five Hundred Seven Thousand
Forty– Eight Pesos and Ten Centavos (PhP
3,507,048.10) representing the initial release of
grant to the Provincial Government of Cotabato for
the implementation of the Small Scale
Community-Based Environmental Rehabilitation and
Conservation Project for clustered area within the
vicinity of Ligawasan Marsh under the KR2-PEP. The
check was personally received at the NEDA Regional
Office XII by Ms. Rosalina M. Aguirre, Provincial
Treasurer of Cotabato Province and |

Ma. Araceli C. Enoc,
Administrative Officer V, representing the
Provincial Government of Cotabato. The project aims
to conserve and rehabilitate the marshland
environment and to improve the productivity and
sustainability of the fishing industry on which
about 80% of the community/people depend for
livelihood. The project will undertake community
organizing, environment conservation and
rehabilitation,
technology transfer, and training/advocacy on
nursery and forest management.
The project is expected to contribute to the
maintenance of the ecological integrity of the
clustered area within the vicinity of Ligawasan
Marsh and sustain
the agri-fishing industry for the economic
activities of the people in the marsh area. |
