SARANGANI GOV. MIGS DOMINGUEZ PREPARES TO ASSUME RDC XII LEADERSHIP   March 12, 2009

In preparation for his assumption as Chairperson of Regional Development Council (RDC) XII, Sarangani Governor Migs Domiguez was given a full briefing by the RDC XII Secretariat led by the OIC Vice-Chairperson Teresita Socorro C. Ramos, OIC Regional Director of NEDA XII on 05 March 2009. Governor Dominguez was appointed by Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on February 17, 2009. Prior to his appointment as acting Chairperson, Gov. Dominguez ably presided the last meeting of the Council on December 15, 2009 upon unanimous approval of the body. He also convened a special meeting of the Council on 13 January 2009 at Intramuros, as part of the opening of the Wow Philippines Kuyog Tanu Ko Kalilintad hosted by the Department of Tourism.

OIC Vice-Chairperson Ramos provided Gov. Dominguez an overview of the mandates, functions, structure and composition of the Council, as well as, on operational concerns particularly those that need the review and approval of the Chairperson. She also shared with the Governor some issues regarding the pending organization of the Advisory Committee (AdCom) which is composed of the members of the Region XII House of Representatives and of the Executive Committee. Gov. Dominguez also conveyed the need to be assisted by a Co-Chairperson who would come from the Private Sector to forge stronger partnership and collaboration for regional development.

As RDC XII Chairperson he also expressed his concern over the relevance of the RDC on the lives of the people in the region, particularly in responding to the real issues of armed conflict, disaster and poverty. He pointed out that RDC XII needs to “sell” itself to its stakeholders, and re-invent itself, if necessary. Thus on this note, Gov. Dominguez shall be calling for a consultative meeting with the Regional Directors of key government agencies and Private Sector Representatives on March 20, 2009 in Koronadal City. The meeting hopes to generate valuable inputs for the crafting of the Chairperson’s development agenda which he will deliver when he is inducted to the post on March 31, 2009 during the 26th Regular Meeting of RDC XII.
