NEDA XII OIC-RD APPEARS ON BANTALAKAYAN   February 07, 2009

NEDA XII OIC-Regional Director Teresita Socorro C. Ramos was one of the guests at the Bantalakayan Program on 07 February 2009 and aired live over radio station DXMS-AM in Cotabato City.

The Bantalakayan Program is a weekly forum regularly hosted by Rev. Fr. Eliseo R. Mercado, Jr., OMI, aired every Saturday between 6 to 7 in the morning. It tackles important issues on the Mindanao peace process, promotion of good governance, socio-economic development of Region XII and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

The February 7th episode was focused on “Business Prospects of Cotabato City / Region XII amidst the Global Financial Crisis.” Other guests were from the business sector and the NGO / private sector.

OIC-RD Ramos welcomed NEDA’s participation in the Bantalakayan as this was an opportunity not only to inform the public about the possible impact of the financial crisis; but most importantly, to learn first hand how the business sector is coping and what measures are being taken to mitigate the effects of the global meltdown. For the benefit of the listening public, OIC-RD Ramos explained in layman’s term the Global Financial Crisis and how this would affect the common people. She also talked about government’s action and briefly discussed the Economic Resiliency Plan.

Due to time constraint, OIC-RD Ramos requested the organizers to again invite NEDA inorder to comprehensively discuss the Economic Resiliency Plan which is being advocated for implementation and support by NEDA Director-General, Secretary Ralph G. Recto.

DXMS-AM Radio for Peace is one of the media outfits of Notre Dame Broadcasting Corporation (NDBC) which is owned by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI).
